This Cake has a great icing, with a hint of coffee and rum. It is heavenly and i have been enjoying it ever since i have been able to eat, which is for (hmmm) over 40 years now. There are not many better bakers and cooks in the world than are the " Hungarians ". It is true! This is a site and venture for me and i will be adding more recipes and various other interests to fill your hearts and belly's with the grandeur of that European Nation and People. You can get a grinder for the walnuts such as this one from Zyliss : . It grinds them " very fine ". Also, for your information, good lard is great in baking as described by this author : on the web . In my neighborhood, you can get good lard at the local Fairgrounds. My Mother, baker of this cake, was raised in RábaFüzes, Hungary and some of her family still resides in Vas Megye, including Kondorfa, near the Austrian border. My father was raised in the village of Sály, in Borsod Megye, near Miskolc, where his whole family had stayed. My parents came to America with most of my Mother's family, the Nemeth's, during the Revolution of '56'. By the way, have you ever been to a Hungarian Bogrács? It is an outdoor Goulash event! And finally, if you ever go to New York or need a reason to, near Broadway is a fine Hungarian/ Italian Restaraunt called " Caterina's " between 1st & 2nd Ave on E. 53rd Street. Tom and Mary say they will take wonderful care of you...and...just tell them that Nick of TheHungarianCellar.com sent you. You can enjoy your superb dining experience, as was my wife's pleasure , with Piano and Violin Music and adult refreshments in the lounge, after 7 pm! I must also mention the Hungarian Restaraunt ..."THE MOCCA". It is located on 2nd Ave. between 82nd & 83rd Streets. You will always get a full delicious meal here and find Hungarian Folks there.
