       My Mother's " DIOS TORTA " "( Walnut Cake )"




" THE RECIPE "

The Cake Batter Ingredients
QUANTITYUNITDESCRIPTIONPREPARATION
16eachEggsseperated
16tblsSugar
16tblsShelled Walnutsground very fine
8tblsBread Crumbs
4tspBaking Powder
2tblsLard
2tblsDusting flour
The Batter Directions
THE BATTER DIRECTIONS
A) Preheat oven to 325°F & grease 3 round baking pans with lard and dust with
   flour.
B) Get ready 3 large bowls and mixer.
C) Ground up 12 oz shelled walnuts "very fine".
D) Stir sugar into egg yolks for about 15 min. until turns creamy yellow and
    sugar dissolved. Then stir in ground walnuts and bread crumbs and baking
    powder.
E) With electric mixer, mix egg whites until on the stiff side, then fold into egg
    yolk mix.
F) Pour mix into baking pans, level, and place in stove, until done! [about 30 min.]


 

The Icing Ingredients

3/4lbUnsalted Sw. Buttersoftened
1boxPowdered Sugar
1/2tblsCocoa
1tspVanilla
2eachEgg Yolks
1/2tspRum Extract
1tspInstant Coffeedissolved with water

"Finishing The Cake"
"THE FINAL STEP"
A) Put the Softened Butter in large bowl.
B) Slowly add and mix by hand the Powdered Sugar.
C) Then do same with Cocoa, Vanilla, and Egg Yolks.
D) Then add Coffee (dilluted) and Rum and taste to likeing.
E) Once the Cake Batters are out and "Cooled",   spread icing on top
   of each round batter,  layer them,  and then spread all over.
F) Sprinkle top of cake with gr. walnuts and powdered vanilla sugar.
G) Place cake into refrigerator for at least 2hrs to cool before cutting!
